FAQ

Q: I am interested in being part of the CEMS community, where & when can I join?

To be part of the CEMS community, first and foremost, you need to be part of the CEMS program. To know more details about how to join the CEMS program in Finland, we invite you to visit the program page on Aalto University Website.

Q: I want to be a part of the board of CEMS Club Helsinki, is it possible?

Of course it is possible, it is even highly recommended! Being a member of the board means that you get to be at the heart of the CEMS experience. You can expect lots of fun, adventures, new friendships, meaningful responsibilities and so much more. The application round for the various board positions is organized at the beginning of every semester.

Keep an eye open if you are interested or contact us directly if you have any questions!

Q: Aalto is my CEMS exchange university, can I still be A part of the board?

Of course! We encourage every CEMSie to join regardless of Aalto being your home or host university. The more diverse the board is, the better!

Q: I will be studying at Aalto next semester and would like to be officially part of CEMS Club Helsinki, is there any fees to join?

No fees :) CEMS Club Helsinki is one of the few CEMS Clubs not requiring any membership fees. However, be ready to pay your share when participating in the events of your choosing.

Q: I graduated recently but I would still like to join some events you organize, is that alright?

Alumni are more than welcome to participate in any (or every!) events organized by CCH. Your presence is valuable and very much appreciated, so don’t hesitate and join us! :)

Q: I missed the deadline to send my Board application, can I still contribute to CCH in any way?

Worry not! You can still support CCH even if you are not part of the board. Soon after the board has been designated, you will have the opportunity to join various teams ranging from alumni and social to marketing.

Q: Will I get to travel together with CCH?

We try to organize as many trips as finances and course deadlines allow us to. We do understand that one semester is relatively short and that some CEMSies are coming from very far and are excited to discover the Nordics and Europe! That’s why, we try to organize at least a trip per month (sometimes more) be it abroad or within Finland!

Some examples of our previous destinations include: Lapland, Tallinn, Bergen, Stockholm, Hämeenlinna etc.

Q: How often do you organize CEMS events?

We have big events that we organize every semester such as the Crayfish party and the CEMS Stage during Fall or the Shadow Ball and the Alumni Sitsit during Spring.

The semester always opens up with our traditional cottage trip where you can enjoy Finnish culture at its finest and get to know your current cohort.

Otherwise, we try to organize casual events 2 to 3 times a week. These can range from clubbing to museum visits to cafe crawls to hiking or brunching.

Also, as the Nordic countries have strong relationships, we try to visit one of our fellow CEMS Clubs (as well as host their visit to Finland) at least once a semester.

Q: I saw that Aalto University has its own merchandise store, does CCH have some merch as well that I can buy?

Being a part of CCH comes with the possibility to order a CEMS Club Helsinki hoodie or sweater. You can find more information about it on our student initiatives page. We are also thinking about widening our product offering in the future. Anything special you’d like to purchase be it overall badges or tote bags? Let us know by contacting us!

Q: CORPORATE RELATIONSHIPS ARE AT THE HEART OF CEMS, WHAT CAN I EXCEPT FROM CCH in this field?

Corporate activities organized by CCH depend on the current Head of Corporate. Regardless of that, you can expect at least one corporate event per semester, but usually there’s a wider offering with diverse partners.

Some examples of our previous or future corporate events: Breakfast seminar with Accenture, Thursday night Beers & Friday morning Brunches with McKinsey, Company Tour & Drinks with Fat Lizard etc.

Do you fancy even more networking? You can always be as proactive as possible during courses with partners be it skills seminars, business projects, RGL, LSD etc. You can also have a look at the company visits organized by the CEMS LC Finland (Local Chapter of the Alumni Association) where current students are also welcomed.
